About Me
Being born and raised in Victoria, I knew I wanted to come home after graduating from the University of British Columbia to practice as a pharmacist. With being from Vancouver Island, I am aware of the considerations and challenges that individuals living in the smaller communities face when it comes to receiving specialized treatment and care.
My interest in Parkinson disease (PD) started while I was on a community pharmacy rotation as a student pharmacist. I realized that there was a great need for education and guidance when it came to the medications used to manage PD. Soon after becoming a registered pharmacist, I started volunteering with HeadWay - Victoria Epilepsy & Parkinson's Centre in order to learn more about PD, as well as find ways in which I could help support the community. This position allowed me to collaborate on issues relating to medication management and therapeutic outcomes in PD. It also gave me the opportunity to deliver presentations and co-facilitate discussions on topics pertaining to PD in various community settings.
Today, in addition to being a pharmacist, I support the Parkinson's community on a provincial level through my collaboration with Parkinson Society British Columbia, as well as on a local level through my role with Parkinson Wellness Projects in Victoria. All in all, I hope that I can help individuals affected by PD feel capable when it comes to their medications.
